VOLUNTEERing at ccac

How to get started and
what to expect

We need volunteers 365 days a year, and there are opportunities for every age and ability!

1. Pick a time slot

Use the Sign Up Genius to find a time slot that works for you! In the comments field, write "New Volunteer" so that we can plan to have a staff member or seasoned volunteer there ready to show you the ropes!

Tips for using the Sign Up Genius:

  • It works best if you register/sign in first, and then click the link above.

  • Once you're on the sign up page, choose the time you'd like come, and click "Sign Up":

  • On the next page, enter "New volunteer" in the My Comment field:.

  • Bringing someone with you? Great! Let us know by adding who is coming to the My Comment field. Then click 'Sign Up Now':

  • If Sign Up Genius doesn't work for you, don't worry, just come in anyway - the important part is that you join us!

2. Sign the Volunteer Release Form

Print and fill out the Volunteer Release Form at the link below to bring with you on your first visit. Copies are also available at the front desk to fill out when you arrive.

3. Join our Volunteer Facebook Group (optional)

Keep up on the latest news, needs, and announcements through CCAC Vols, our dedicated private facebook group.

4. 365 days a year!

Every single day, the animals under our roof need care: whether it's walking, cleaning, or feeding... there's always something to do! On government holidays, the shelter is typically closed, but open for volunteers from 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon.

5. Your first visit

After filling our your volunteer form, you'll get a quick tour of the facility. If you're a cat person, you'll likely be shown to the free-roaming cat room to meet our residents there and work on socialization. If you're a dog person, we'll show you 'The Board' - our whiteboard in the back where all dogs are listed, with their location, weight, status and the number of walks they've had that day. To start out with, a staff member or volunteer will choose a dog and get them out of their kennel for you. Once you get more familiar with volunteering, we'll show you walk you through that process, but for your first few visits, we want you to just learn the property and get to know the pups!

From the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU for your interest in volunteering with CCAC! We hope that you will join us!
